Green Monsters in the Workplace

As I mentioned yesterday, I decided to bring the GM Movement to my office today, in an effort to share this delicious and healthy drink to some Green Monster newbies. Many of them had heard me wax poetic about how tasty and beneficial they are but most remained skeptical: Spinach in a smoothie? Ummm...eww!

Ewww?? I don't think so!

In today's mix: Organic spinach, blueberries, bananas, soy milk and green tea.

Blend and ta-da! Green Monsters for everyone!

So the one thing that I think even the biggest GM fan can agree to is that the colour can throw you off a little. My co-workers were no exception. They were willing to try it but hesitated a little when handed the cup.

It was quite hilarious that almost everyone had the same reaction when they saw it. In fact one person went so far as to warn the next person to "..just drink it. Don't look at it first, whatever you do!"

In the end, every single person who tried it liked it. Some liked it more than others (Cynthia wants to make more next week even!) but no one was disappointed or worse (someone wretching in the bathroom would have been quite anti-climatic)

Score 1 for the Green Monster Movement!

There is something to be said for sharing something this good. If I had money I'd "Share the Wealth" but for now I'll "Share the Health"!

So tell me, did you do anything fun at work today? If you weren't at work (lucky you!) how'd you keep busy?

  1. Love that you brought the GM to work. Must whip out my magic bullet tomorrow and whip one up. I always stick to the same old nut butter, almond milk, spinach and banana though. Maybe it's time to branch out and try some new combinations. Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. LOVE this post! So funny! Every time I try to get a family member to try a green smoothie I am like
"just drink it, just drink it, just drink it." I feel like a little drug pusher or something! But they need to get past the green color bc it tastes yummy.

    Any converts?

  5. Hilarious! I love how you captured the looks on their faces!!

This post made me think...obviously your coworkers know about your blog, but I haven't shared mine with my own coworkers. Its a little debate I'm having.

  7. This is awesome! I love that your co-workers willing to try the GM! I have some very closed-minded co-workers, so you must work in a fun place! The addition of green tea in the GM sounds yummy, too.

  8. Haha, that's awesome! When I first moved in with my current roommate, I kind of snuck my green monsters - I didn't want her looking at me and thinking "what the hell is that girl drinking?"
As we got to know each other, I actually got her hooked on them!

  12. That is great. I've taken a to go cup of Green Monster smoothies to work a few times and just get some weird looks and comments. I think most people just have a hard time getting over the color especially when you you add cherries...it does look a little muddy but oh so yummy!

Yesterday I wore my Vibrams to work. Thought it might be fun to see what kind of reaction I might get, but only 1 brave soul called me out. He thought they were creepy. ;)

  13. My dear boyfriend is a vegetable hater. I think I might ask him to try a GM when he makes his next protein shake. I love that you took it to work. We need a total health makeover at my school. I think teacher's may rank up there with being some of the unhealthiest folks on the planet. We do a lot of stress eating. I'm proud to say that a few of us were able to get two sodas removed from the staff vending machine and replaced with 100% natural juice. It's not perfect, but it's a start. Next up - a healthy vending machine.

  14. July 15th was when I was traveling back home from NYC. So it was exactly that morning I was running through Central Park :) You've mentioned a couple of times how you'd like to get to NYC to do the marathon next year, and I really hope you get there!

As for the GM - even I'll admit it - it looks revolting, but I'm not one to shy away from trying something new, and if it's got blueberries and banana in it, then it'll taste good regardless. ROFL @ the last dude's face!
