And breathe, freak out over. I trained as much as I trained. Maybe I could have trained more but I suppose that could always be the answer regardless of the miles you've clocked. I'm ready, or as ready as I'll every be. I'm not going into it with pressure to finish in a certain amount of time. As I mentioned before this is my first 10 mile race and so with nothing to compare it to all I want is to run as strong as I possibly can (and no matter how long it takes me its still my PR for that distance...bonus!!) And what I was thinking when I signed up is that I want the challenge of doing something tough, something that I have never done before, something that I never thought I could do. I wanted to and will prove to myself that I can damnit!!
Today has been a pretty laid back day. I've rested after a week of fitness (more cross training then running so I have somewhat fresh legs) and tried to get fuel myself with some much needed sustanance.
My not so green Green Monster (I found that if you add strawberries that sucker will stay pinkish not matter how much spinach you add to it!)
And some ridiculously addictive mixed nuts (holy freakin' delicious!!!)
And lots and lots of water (its supposed to be warm but now scorching tomorrow..phew!)
Then I decided that in order to get in full race mode I would lay out some of my gear. I have done this the last two races to avoid a hectic morning (no one wants to be panicking at 5:45 right?)
The rest of the day is going to be pretty low key too. A trip to the dog park (look how patiently he's waiting to go!), some pasta with veggies for dinner, a movie with The Boyfriend and then off to bed for a good night's sleep.
Enjoy the rest of your Saturday everyone. I'll be back tomorrow with a race recap!
So tell me, what are some of your pre-race rituals?
Yay, good luck!!! You will do amazingly, and I'm sure that you will be on such a high when you finish a TEN MILER! Congratulations in advance!
